Jaka Mojskerc

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Jaka. I live in small country in central Europe called Slovenia. I'm 17 years old and currently my biggest passion is photography which is mainly what I want to do in my life.

How did you get started in photography?

I started with photography about a year and a few months ago. We had an old DSLR at home (Olympus E30). It was all dusty because nobody was using it. It belonged to my father but then he bought a new mirrorless camera so I just took that old one and started taking pictures.

What was the inspiration for this particular photo shoot?

I wanted to do that photo shoot for a long time now and my biggest inspiration for this "fine art" shoot was Jovana Rikalo, who is also an outstanding and unique photographer. Huge thanks goes to my colleague and great photographer Katja Grobelnik. We designed the idea for the shoot and made it happen.

How would you describe your style?

I'm trying to be unique and "stand out". Most of my photos have kind of a moody vibe to it, using dark backdrops, desaturated colors. That's the look I find the most appealing.

Any tips or tricks you could pass on to fellow photographers?

Only one thing I wish to say to you: DO NOT listen to anyone about your photography. It will shape your imagination, which in my opinion shouldn't happen. Photography is art and it's all about personal preference. As long as you enjoy your style and feel good about it, keep it that way.

What is the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?

The best way to check my work is via Instagram. Most of my work can be found there. Username: @jaka.mojskerc
