Let's begin with a bit about you and your background.
My name is Shelby, I'm 22 years old. I'm from Duncan, Oklahoma, and happily married to the most amazing man alive! I wanted to be a photographer since I was 11, so all of this has definitely been a dream come true.
If you had to pick one thing, what would you say is your go-to piece of camera equipment?
My go-to piece of equipment would be the window in my studio. Yes, I consider it to be equipment because it helps get me my favorite photos and poses by producing the best lighting.
How would you define your style of photography--what do you aim to capture in your photos?
My style of photography is a combination of light and airy, and dark and moody, in my opinion.
What was your most favorite moment/photo from this particular session?
When I finally got Kylie to smile because she hates smiling, but her smile is so beautiful.
When shooting boudoir or in-home sessions how do you help put your clients at ease?
I will either play music they like, tell funny or cute stories about my animals or goddaughter. But, of course when they tell me they are nervous, I ask why, and try to answer any questions or concerns they have. I will show them the first couple of photos from a few poses and that usually makes them feel a lot better!
"When they tell me they are nervous, I ask why... I will show them the first couple of photos from a few poses and that usually makes them feel a lot better!"
Do you have any exciting projects on the horizon?
Yes! On August 22nd, I'll be doing a shoot promoting the idea that tattoos do not make or break a woman. There are too many controversies about tattoos, piercings and colored hair that still exist. It's 2018, c'mon!
And lastly, where is the best place to find you and learn more about your work?
The best place to find me is either at home, or at another shoot.
Feel free to check out Shelby's work on Instagram @prattsphotographyofficial or Pratts Photos on Facebook. And feel free to share a little love with the gorgeous mama from this shoot @kylie.southerland
